Solvent Recovery Rate

Years of Experience
Industrial frying, rendering and extraction processes produce intense odours and VOCs that change in concentration and flow rate unpredictably. A plant sized for average conditions fails at peak moments; one oversized for peaks wastes energy the rest of the time. We design thermal oxidisers calibrated to the real variability of your process, with minimised NOₓ and CO emissions and documented compliance.
In food and rendering, the choice of oxidiser depends on flow rate, process continuity and local regulatory limits. For high and continuous flow rates, we use RTOs. We propose recuperative TO when valorisation of animal fat and liquid waste is possible with our dual fuel burners.
For high and continuous flow rates. Up to 99% odour and VOC abatement, thermal efficiency up to 95%.
For compact installations. Heat recovery via an air-to-air heat exchanger, available with a thermal oil recovery boiler.
In food processing, the real challenge is not meeting limits under standard operating conditions, but ensuring compliance during production peaks, when emissions reach their highest levels. It is for these critical moments that we design our systems, not based on average values.
Over 350 RTOs installed worldwide, capacity from 3,000 to 330,000 Nm³/h. They manage the thermal load variations typical of industrial frying without going to bypass or requiring shutdown.
For plants with limited space or moderate flow rate processes. Integrated heat recovery, excess heat can be used to heat thermal oil or generate process steam.
The food and rendering sector is regulated with limits that go beyond simple mg/Nm³ values: in many countries, odour emissions are measured in odour units (OU/m³), and the permitted values depend on the zone of the production site. Every Donau Carbon Technologies plant integrates these requirements from the start of the project.
We design BAT-AEL values applicable to the food sector, including odour emissions that are often not covered by standard emission limits.
In many European countries, odour emissions are regulated in OU/m³. Our plants are sized to meet these limits even at production peak moments.
We support clients with the technical documentation required for environmental permits, adapting the design to the specific requirements of the country and installation site.
The most frequent questions in food and rendering concern managing emission peaks, odour limits and the choice between the different abatement technologies available.
It depends on flow rate and process continuity. For high and continuous flow rates, the RTO guarantees 99% abatement with high thermal efficiency.
Yes. In our RTOs and TOs, we design excess heat recovery systems to generate steam or thermal oil that can be reused in the process, reducing the plant's overall energy costs.
They vary by country and by the zone of the production site. In Italy Europe, reference is made to D.Lgs. 152/2006 EN 13725 and regional guidelines. In other non-EU countries, the BAT BREF for the food industry applies. Wwe assess the applicable regulatory context on a case-by-case basis.
Typically 6–9 months from contract signing to final testing. For more compact installations (TO), lead times can be reduced to 4–6 months. Commissioning includes fine-tuning operating parameters to real process conditions.
